JackThe south of Mumbai is home to the rich and famous. Here, there is the most expensive housing in the whole of India.

Families living here can afford the latest mobile phones and cars. They can shop 'til they drop in the World Trade Centre and Fashion Street or go to watch horse racing or cricket in the sports stadiums.Harry

JackOf course, life is not like that for a lot of the people who live in the city.

How many types of housing can you see?

What materials have been used?

During the monsoon season where would you prefer to live and why?

Why do you think some people live in these poor houses?

It doesn't matter if you are rich or poor when it comes to celebrating festivals. And people in Mumbai all like celebrating!Jack

CecileThe Holi festival in Mumbai is one of the biggest. Holi usually takes place in March. It celebrates the beginning of summer, and a sense of community. This makes it one of the friendliest festivals - everyone can join in, no matter what their age, caste or what they earn!

HarryDuring Holi festival, people dance, sing and throw coloured water on each other! It's a lot of fun!

JackHoli remembers many legends. One of them is the life of Krishna. As a child Krishna was very fond of milk and other dairy foods. He used to steal milk and butter stored in pots in people's homes. During Holi, a pot of buttermilk is hung high up in a street to remember this legend. Men climb on top of each other to see if they can reach the pot and break it. The one that succeeds is crowned Holi king of the year!
