JackToday, we throw away more and more old computers, TVs, mobile phones and other electronic equipment. We call it, 'E-Waste'. In the UK, we throw away about a million tonnes of the stuff every year!

CecileThe problem with E-waste is that it is made of many different metals and plastics - some of them dangerous - and it is difficult to dump. What's more, we are throwing away more and more E-waste as we want the latest computers, TVs or mobile phones. It is often made easier to buy a new model than mend or upgrade an old one.

JackSome of our E-waste is loaded onto ships and taken all the way to China. The USA is doing the same - more than half of America's E-Waste ends up in Asian countries.

Places like Guiyu in southern China are becoming electronic junkyards. But 'E-waste' puts people and the environment in danger. Click on the picture to find out more. Harry

CecileDo you think it's OK to send our E-Waste to other countries like China, or should we be dumping it here? And how would you feel if there was an E-Waste dump near your house?
