Many people think that we should be taking action to stop today's waste from spoiling the lives of people in the future. To do this, we need to think about three R's: Visit On Camera to learn about how people are already practising the three R's in different places around the world.

	How much of your waste could you Reduce, Re-use or Recycle? Perhaps you could have a competition to see who can think of the most ways? Click on the logo to get some ideas. Can you think of other things you could do? How much recycling goes on where you live? Perhaps you could do a survey of the recycling facilities in your neighbourhood! On average, each family in Britain uses 330 glass bottles and jars each year. But only 30% are recycled. How many would that be? How many glass bottles and jars would your class use (on average)? How many of them are thrown away?

	Maybe we should start with another R - RE-THINK the way we live today to make a better future! The UK is nearly bottom of the recycling class in Europe - we only recycle 14.5% of all our waste - the Germans recycle more than half of theirs! Our Government wants to raise that total to 25% by 2005/2006. The Recycle Zone is definitely worth a visit - you can get lots of interesting facts about waste, ideas on how we can make and do things with waste, and there are some great games to play too!
