Cecille A bottle of water can cost 1,000 times more than tap water. So why do we buy it?

Jack I'm not sure. Have a look at these websites and the advertising from top bottled water companies. How do you think they try to get you to buy their water? Do you notice any persuasive writing or things that make you want to go out and buy a bottle?

Evian Volvic Buxton Vittel Highland Spring Perrier

Harry WOW! They all have really fancy labels, but can you design an even better one? Click here for an outline of a bottle. Print it and design your own, even better label!

Cecille Taste testI know what we should do. We should test to see if people can really taste the difference between bottled water and water that comes out of the tap. Click on the bottle to find out what you need to do.

Harry The plastic used to make many of these water bottles can be really bad news. Roll over the pictures to find out why.

Jack This is terrible, what can we do?

Cecille The best thing we can do is practise the 3 Rs. Do you remember them from when we looked at waste?

Oh yes. In many places children our age help to make money for their family by recycling plastic bottles, like this guy collecting them from a train carriage in India.

Jack Do you know where you can recycle plastic near your house? If you live in the UK visit Recycle More - just put in your postcode and use the map to find your nearest plastic recycling centre.

Cecille The Recycled Products website is worth a visit too. It shows all the different things that can be made from recycled materials. Have a good look yourself - see if you can spot the objects that were once plastic bottles!

Harry For many children, bottled water is a luxury. Even getting clean, safe water is hard work. Go to the next page to find out why, and how Water Aid is helping to make it easier.
