Food
Shortages
In the past, some Ethiopian
people have had to cope with food shortages. Sometimes
people have even starved to death. These times of extreme
food shortages are called 'famines'.
A famine
takes a long time to develop, and there are usually
several reasons why a famine occurs. If you roll over

Some areas of
Ethiopia are more likely to have food shortages
than others. In 2000, people living in the
north and eastern highlands had to face unpredictable
rainfall which made it difficult to find enough
pasture for their animals. |
