Colombia
Colombia has been troubled by violence and civil war for more than 50 years. Fighting between the Colombian government's soldiers, rebel armies and the armies of rich landowners make much of Colombia a very dangerous place. Today, 700,000 children live in new places because of the fighting. Esperanza, a 15 year old girl from a town in central Colombia lost her father in the war. She says, "my mother is not coping very well. There are five children in my family, and we are not well off. I feel very angry about the people who killed my father, and my mother talks very badly about them".
