FOR TEACHERS - ICT BRIEF
This piece of ICT work is designed to be undertaken by small groups of students studying at either GCSE or KS3 (year 9) level. Whilst individual students may wish to attempt the brief and submit their work for possible publication on our web site, the prize of a digital camera will be awarded to the school judged to have submitted the best entry, having attempted the brief as part of, or as an extension to, curriculum work in school. It is of most relevance to the geography curriculum, but could be undertaken in other relevant areas e.g. business studies. Further details are contained on the entry form at the end of the brief.
BRIEF:
Projects such as those at Iwokrama cost money not just to set up, but to maintain and develop. Your task is to:
- produce up to 3 x A4 pages (6 sides) of printed material using a desk top publishing package - either as one booklet or as separate parts of an overall package;
- outline the main aims of the Iwokrama Project, explaining and emphasising the importance of Sustainable Development
- appeal to potential donors (businesses, organisations and groups) so that they would want to contribute to the future of the project either financially or in other ways;
- explain how potential donors might benefit from their involvement;
- show evidence that you have used the Global Eye News and/or Iwokrama web sites e.g. downloading suitable and relevant images. You may also wish to look at and use other web sites or sources of information. These should be referred to on the entry form.
The best entries will be displayed on the Global Eye News web site. The school department submitting what is, in the judges' opinion, the best presentation will receive a digital camera. The closing date for entries is Friday April 7th 2000.
