Talkboard:
Protecting Mountain Environments

As the world's population grows, pressure also grows to use the land to live on, produce food and to provide work to earn money to live. Most people agree that we have to use the limited resources on our planet in a much more careful and planned way in the future - we can't just go on using up resources and damaging the environment. We have to work and behave in a SUSTAINABLE way.

If you want to take part in this talkboard, you should read through the three sections in 'Focus On ... Mountain Environments' first. Mountains are amongst some of the most fragile and endangered world environments. Even the most remote areas, like Mount Everest (Nepal) and Machu Picchu (Peru) are beginning to suffer from the damage done and pollution caused by too many visitors. Yet these visitors bring badly needed money and jobs to their local areas. Developing our use of such mountain areas in a SUSTAINABLE way is essential in the future.

Please use this talkboard to send in YOUR views, ideas and opinions about protecting our mountain areas and using them in a sustainable way - or to ask questions or answer questions posted by other people. These can be about the mountain areas featured in Global Eye News, or others elsewhere in the world. Have you visited any mountainous areas? Tell us what you saw and how the area was being managed or looked after.
