JackIn this Global Eye we are off to the Sahara in northern Africa, the world’s largest desert.

Isn’t a desert the same as a pudding?

  CecileNo! That’s dessert with two s’s! A desert is a very dry place. The Sahara is a hot desert, but deserts can be very cold too. The South Pole is a kind of desert. Here, it snows just 50 mms a year. During the year in the UK we usually get 15 times more rain or snow than the South  Pole.
