Here at Mlalo primary school children are looking after the plant nursery that grows food for school lunch. Through 'self-reliance projects' and citizenship lessons, young people play a part in supporting and developing the school.

So far the spotlight on education has succeeded in getting an extra million Tanzanian children into school. With better education, children acquire the skills to continue learning throughout their lives. This way, improved education is another important way of developing sustainably.
