DREAMS INTO POSSIBILITIES

Hope
HIV, a UK-based charity, focuses on supporting orphans
of AIDS, some of whom are HIV positive themselves. Unlike
a child orphaned by war, the child orphaned by the virus
can sometimes be turned away by the local community. Not
only do they have no parents but many AIDS orphans have
no guidance, no education, no status.

In different African
countries, Hope HIV has set up projects to support these orphans.
Zodwa's House in Soweto, South Africa is one project that
provides shelter, care and medical treatment for toddler orphans.
In Zimbabwe, Hope HIV supports Masiye Camp, a training centre
for nearly 1,000 orphans. Here, children can receive education
and counselling, and there is a programme with courses on
teenage parenting and household management for those children
who now have to look after their younger brothers and sisters.
Hope HIV does offer hope
for many children.
