Did you know that
India is thirteen times bigger than
the UK? And over one billion people
live in this huge country, speaking
fifteen different languages and 800
dialects.
It's more like a continent
than a country!

From one part of India to
another, people live differently. Go to the
On Camera
page to see some of these differences. |

|
 |
We call different parts
of the country, "regions". Each
region of India has its own features.
|
You may have looked at other
regions of India in some of your lessons like
the village of Chembakolli in the south, or
Kesharpur village in Orissa State in the east.
But for this edition of Global Eye Primary,
we are going to explore the north-east region. |

|

 |
The north-east region is
connected to the rest of India by a narrow
strip of land that people call the "chicken's
neck"!
|
This region is different
from all the others in many ways. It has the
most rainfall, the biggest area of forest,
and the largest number of Adivasis, India's
tribal people. |

journey to the north-east by clicking on
