Clashes between rival gangs do take place in Kenya, but Kenyans have been spared the violence and conflict experienced by some of its neighbours, like Uganda. Many Kenyans believe that this is because most people are tolerant towards people of different races and backgrounds.

With Africa very much in focus in 2005, there are some signs of hope for the future. Kenya's President Mwai Kibaki has already begun a plan to guarantee that every Kenyan has the right to a free primary education.
