gm foods are they the solution to world hunger?
Design a web page or leaflet to make the case for or against the use of genetically modified (GM) foods as the solution to world hunger in the future.
Whichever side of the debate you choose, you will also need to be aware of any opposing views this will help you argue from a much stronger position!

  • Think how you can persuade your readers to support your standpoint on GM foods.
  • Try to make your web page/leaflet eye-catching, using illustrations or photos.
  • Consider the range of possible impacts of GM foods economic and social impacts or impacts on the natural environment.
To build on the information given on the Focus on Food/Case Study: The Gene Revolution page, here are some other websites that you could visit:

The most thoughtful and imaginative entries (for both content and presentation) will win one of a range of prizes including 'The State of the World Atlas' or Survival International's 'Tribal Futures' CD of dub and trance mixes. If you send in a web page, it could well feature in a future edition of www.globaleye.org.uk!

Include your name(s), year group, teacher's name, and the name and address of your school and then send your entry by post or e mail it as a html attachment to: Global Eye Secondary Competition (Autumn 2001)
